Steve Griffin is an entrepreneur. It wasn’t enough that he owned Curious Gourmet, a successful kitchen shop in downtown Franklin, he wanted to bring some New York trendiness to downtown Franklin. So he brought in a couple pastry chefs and set up another shop, Curious Gourmet Cupcake Cafe, just a couple doors down from his kitchen shop of the same name.
The Curious Gourmet—a place where both the delicious batter and the scrumptious icing are made entirely from scratch—has a coffee house vibe with comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi, which means that on any given day you can find a songwriter working on his next big hit or a high school student studying for a physics final. But it’s not about the vibe—it’s all about the cupcake!
Steve believes that a cupcake should not only look beautiful, but also taste beautiful. In fact, it's his belief that you can’t eat one of his cupcakes without smiling! With a promise like that, how could I not try one? The only problem was which one? He has so many to choose from! Should I go for the Pretty Princess cupcake, named for his granddaughter, Haley? Maybe I should honor the green of Christmas with a Mint Chocolate Chip cupcake? Or should I try the classic Vanilla Bean?
I finally decided on Vanilla Bean...
And he was right—it made me smile!
