Christmas in Hershey

By Sara Bozich

Hersheypark Christmas Candylane is to me, the quintessential holiday happening in Hershey-Harrisburg. I have fond memories of going there as a young child, and no doubt is enjoyed by locals and travelers of all ages.

Now through the end of the year, Hersheypark is transformed into a holiday village. Meet Santa - his nine (real, live!) reindeer, hear live entertainment or watch N.O.E.L., a holiday-themed lightshow just for Christmas Candylane. There also are more than 30 rides open in the park, plus games, shops and of course edible treats like S’mores and hot chocolate, too!

Days and hours of operation can be found online at Hersheypark.com. Tickets are $12.95 for ages 3 and older.

While there, don’t forget to stop into ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park (included in your admission), where you can catch animals in their cool-weather habits.

Also for the family: Hershey Sweet Lights. Stuff the family in the car, arm them with thermoses of hot chocolate and adjust your radio for this holiday drive-through spectacular. You’ll cruise along a 2.3 mile wooded route behind The Hotel Hershey, taking in the nearly 600 themed light displays with the sounds of the season as your soundtrack.

Holiday stress calls for some serious pampering. The Chocolate Spa at The Hotel Hershey has two special spa packages selected just for the season.

Now through the end of the year try the Holiday Season Sampler, which includes full body hydration, hydrating body wrap - using Spicy Body Butter, and a Holiday Spice massage. This 80-minute treatment is $185.

Or, splurge on yourself this season with the Holiday Spa Package. This half-day treatment includes an incense-infused massage (how better to relax!), a Peppermint Pattie Salt Scrub & Chocolate Fondue Wrap, Peppermint Hydrating Facial - plus a luxurious lunch in The Oasis, the Spa’s private lunch lounge. You don’t even have to get dressed - there’s something quite cozy about dining in your robe! This package lasts around 4.5 hours and costs $425.
