Reconnect with nature and the local communities by following the Green Circle trail. The 30.5 mile trail circles the city winding along the Wisconsin River, Little Plover River and other tributaries. The trail head is located within the Schmeekle Reserve, a 275-acre nature preserve on the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point campus.

Relive the past by biking the trail once shaped by glaciers. On the Ice Age Trail wind through the hills and valleys left by natures wonder in Portage County. To see the physical remnants of the glacier framed by a forest and a diverse mix of wildlife throughout, Standing Rocks County Park offers 10 miles of trails to enjoy the landscape. Or take a journey down a once abandoned railroad bed, where the 14 mile Tomorrow River State Trail brings the county’s history and natural beauty to the forefront.

Rediscover the historical roots of Portage County by traveling the Polish Heritage Trail. Quietly winding through the countryside marked with remnants of the past, see where the first rural Polish settlement in Wisconsin was established.
