VILLAGE OF PARIS/PARIS LANDING, TN

The largest body of water between the Gulf of Mexico and the Great Lakes is right in our backyard.  Kentucky Lake is the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi River.  Over 250 square miles of water with over 2,000 miles of shoreline is waiting to be discovered.  The lake is 184 miles long and about 1.5 to 2 miles wide providing plenty of playground space for boaters, water-players, and fishermen alike.

The lake is known for outstanding crappie and bass fishing with several major tournaments held each year.  In addition, panfish such as bluegill and shellcrackers are plentiful as well as catfish, sauger and white bass.

Numerous resorts and marinas are located here in Henry County offering boat rentals, bait/tackle, waverunners, covered slips, and much more.

Paris Landing State Park is named for a steamboat and freight landing on the Tennessee River dating back to the mid 1800s. The 841-acre Paris Landing Park is situated on the western shore of what is now Kentucky Lake, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.

The park is located 16 miles northeast of Paris, on U.S. Highway 79.

If you are in the mood for some unique shopping, you
will want to head to downtown Paris for this area's most
gorgeous downtown square. In the mid 1990s, the downtown area underwent major renovations to bring the square back to its original 1920s-era style.

The 60-foot Eiffel Tower that now stands in Paris, Tennessee, had its origin at Christian Brothers University in Memphis. Designed to scale, it was created by Dr. Tom Morrison, professor emeritus of civil engineering; Jim Jacobs, assistant professor of mechanical engineering; and Roland Raffinati, engineering lab technician. Its 500 pieces of Douglas fir and 6,000 steel rods were assembled in CBU's Buckman Quadrangle through more than 10,000 hours donated by students, faculty, alumni, and friends of the University.

Boating

With 160,000 acres of water available for your pleasure at Kentucky Lake, what are you waiting for?  You can set sail, rent a boat or bring your yacht and navigate the Tennessee River's largest watershed.

We're a fisherman's dream, too.  Bring your fishing boat for some of the best bass and crappie fishing in the nation.  And hey, if you don't have a fishing boat, we have area marinas that offer them for rent.
