JACKSON, TN

Southwest Tennessee is filled with variety, and you’ll want to experience all of it. The world-famous sheriff featured in the Walking Tall movies and television series is remembered at the Sheriff Buford Pusser Home & Museum. Bolivar’s three historic districts boast many years of architectural styles. College Hill Center houses several interesting museums. Featured sites in the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center include three museums and the home of Sleepy John Estes. Sporting dog art, wildlife murals and more can be enjoyed at the National Bird Dog Museum, Field Trial Hall of Fame & Wildlife Heritage Center.

In Jackson, tour the historic 1890s home of America’s most legendary railroad hero, Casey Jones. Climb aboard an original steam locomotive there, then head to Casey Jones Village, one of Tennessee’s Top 10 Travel Attractions. Refuel at the famous Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store Restaurant and enjoy dessert at the 1890s Ice Cream Parlor & Fudge Shop, then stroll through more than 15,000 antiques on display. 165 acres of Cypress Grove Nature Park includes trails, two miles of elevated boardwalk, a pond and a lake. The International Rockabilly Hall of Fame & Museum honors those musical pioneers and teaches its visitors about this American style of music. A restored turn-of-the-century depot—now the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Depot and Railroad Museum—offers a glimpse of the railroad era.

Pinson Mounds State Park contains at least 15 earthen mounds, a geometric enclosure and habitation areas. View displays, videos and interpretive programs. Also enjoy the picnic shelters, playground, hiking trails, boardwalk and a 32-person group camp. Imagine the 1862 battle at Shiloh National Military Park as you view 151 monuments, 217 cannons and more than 450 historic tablets.
