Do it all in Central PA!

Tour, Roar Explore … Central Pennsylvania, home of State College and the Penn State University Nittany Lions! State College was named one of the best adventure towns in the United States as well as one of the best places to live, work and play.

Summer is one of the most popular times to visit the State College Region. Central PA 4th Fest has been named one of the top three fireworks displays in the world, and the Central PA Festival of the Arts is a nationally recognized visual and performing arts festival. Stroll through historic shopping districts; enjoy fine dining in a gristmill and experience Broadway … a little off Broadway. State College has what you are looking for in a university town, only better. Bellefonte is an architect’s dream with stately Victorian mansions and Georgian-style architecture dating back to the 1700s. The town also boasts a historic train station. A short drive to Boalsburg will reveal a community graced with small-town charm but with a big place in the history of America: It’s the birthplace of Memorial Day and is also home to the Pennsylvania Military Museum and descendents of Christopher Columbus. Take a scenic drive through Penn’s Valley and Brush Valley with their rolling hills and Amish Farms or follow one of our road trips to vineyards and artists’ studios.

Roar with nearly 110,000 of your closest friends when the Penn State Nittany Lions take the field! On game day at Beaver Stadium, University Park and State College are said to become the third largest city in Pennsylvania! Dip into the Penn State Creamery where you can indulge in Bittersweet Mint and Peachy Paterno ice cream. Walk among the trees on campus, spread a blanket on the HUB lawn, and listen to tunes, or rock out at the Bryce Jordan Center with headline bands and some of the biggest names in entertainment. Step up to the plate with the State College Spikes, they share one of the only LEED certified green stadiums in baseball with the Penn State team.

Central PA has some of the best mountain biking areas in the country with miles and miles of single track through Rothrock State Forest. Penn’s Cave is the only all-water commercial cavern in the United States, and you can explore the entire cave by boat! Fly-fishing is an international sport on Central PA streams, many of which have been visited by U.S. Presidents and hosted world championships.

Climb Mount Nittany for spectacular views; for an adrenaline rush, challenge yourself on one of the largest vertical adventure courses on the East Coast; and join some of the biggest names in action sports at Camp Woodward. Check out one of our outfitters for the latest on climbing, paddling, trail running, cycling and more!
