BEAVER COUNTY, PA

Beaver County

We invite you to visit and share a lifestyle that is second to none. We’re a countryside location surrounded by rolling hills, hardwood forests, river valleys and streams. Our collection of parks and outdoor activities can satisfy any outdoor enthusiast.

Not only are we a great destination, but our County Seat, Beaver, was named by This Old House magazine the Best 2009 Old House Neighborhood in Pennsylvania.

The housing boom may be over, but the This Old House editors have tracked down 51 great neighborhoods that have promising futures and homes that truly deserve a long-term commitment. These places may not be on your radar — but they deserve to be — places overflowing with beautiful, architecturally significant, or even historic houses, with special appeal to old-house-loving buyers.

They also looked for places where people are happy to lend a hand on a neighbor’s home improvement project; where spur-of-the-moment porch parties are among resident’s favorite summer activities; where amenities, such as restaurants, hardware stores or hiking trails, are just a short walk or drive away; and where people come together for special events — whether it’s a holiday festival or a house tour; a 4th of July parade or a crisp fall night outside watching a local college or high school football game.

With the help of preservationdirectory.com, — neighborhood groups, real estate agents and preservation societies — This Old House magazine compiled their list of the best places to track down, fix up and fall head over heals for; and Beaver was their choice for the state of Pennsylvania!

About 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, Beaver was once home to the affluent managers of nearby steel plants. Today this Ohio River town is reinventing itself as a haven for small-town-America lovers, though it’s still a popular bedroom community for those commuting to Pittsburgh. Beaver is the kind of town where new urbanites are trying to create their own version of Celebration, Florida, with plenty of parks and Main Street-type businesses along Third Street. Everything is in walking distance — the entire neighborhood is roughly four square miles.

Looking for fun and interesting things to do outside the house? You will find plenty of them in Beaver County. We are blessed with a number of historical and heritage points that will definitely peak your interest. In addition to attending any one of the dozens of cultural events and ethnic festivals held throughout the year, you can take a nostalgic trip through the history of air travel, specifically relating to WWII at the Air Heritage Museum — the only air museum between Dayton, Ohio and Washington, D.C. Feel the speed, beauty and excitement of polo matches held every Friday evening during the summer in Darlington. Marvel at the refined beauty of a replica of a wooden Greek Catholic Church of Central Europe at the GCU headquarters.

Savor award-winning restaurants and our regional cuisine. Relax at one of our charming bed & breakfasts or national hotel brands. We have unlimited opportunities for antiquing, golfing, boating, museums, historical sites, concerts and more! Beaver County, there is so much to see and do, you just have to get out and enjoy it.

All this only minutes from Pittsburgh.
