One of the country's top birding and wildlife areas, Thief River Falls is home to a wide variety of recreation, history, and entertainment! 

Located on Minnesota’s first birding trail, the “Pine to Prairie Birding Trail,” Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge has over 61,500 acres of diverse plant and animal life to enjoy.  Get a glimse of a Franklin’s Gull, Bitterns, 17 species of Eastern and Western Waterfowl, 5 Grebe species, Sandhill Cranes, and much more! Take the “Lost Bay Habitat Drive,” a four-mile self guided tour route open from May to October during daylight hours. Group tours may be arranged in advance.

The birthplace of Arctic Cat, Thief River Falls has access to more than 500 miles of trails in Northwestern Minnesota. We are truly a snowmobiling hub with 5 different trails leading out of the city. Arctic Cat snowmobiles have been manufactured in Thief River Falls for over 35 years and the plant has one of the top tours in the nation!

Our area rivers provide wonderful canoeing, tubing and fishing!  You’ll find excellent year-round fishing with Walleye, Northern Pike, Catfish, Small Mouth Bass and Pan Fish biting at your bait.

More than 750 slots, Blackjack and great food, the Seven Clans Indoor Waterpark & Casino is located only 7 miles from Thief River Falls. Enjoy the 40,000 sq. ft. Indoor Water Park with over 750 feet of slides, a Lazy River Ride and more!

Step back into yesterday at the Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village. It’s a wonderful stop to learn about the city’s distinctive history. The village, named after a local Norwegian immigrant, consists of 19 buildings with over 25,000 individual items on display. Buildings on site include: Museum, Victorian House, 2 Railroad Depots, Log Houses, One Room Schoolhouse, Farm Machinery Building and much more! The museum and buildings are open to the public Memorial Day through Labor Day with guided tours available.

Minnesota's northern-most vineyard, Two Fools Vineyard is located just 15 minutes from Thief River Falls. Open Saturdays and Sundays, June through Mid-October; enjoy their free-tasting, tours & gift shop! It’s a hidden treasure worth the visit!

The Ralph Engelstad Arena and Huck Olson Memorial Civic Center provide Thief River Falls over 140,000 sq. ft. for multi-sport activities, shows and events with 3,550 theater-style seats. The luxurious Imperial Room is a 5,000 sq. ft. banquet room for anything from corporate meetings to wedding receptions!
