River & Recreation
With sandstone bluffs on one side and flats on the other the Mississippi River flows through the heart of the City.  Harriet Island Regional Park is the signature park on the riverfront connecting you directly to the river’s edge.  The Padelford Packet Boat Company has narrated sightseeing river rides that run daily from April to October. Every October, we host the Twin Cities marathon which is widely referred to as the “most beautiful urban marathon in America.”

Arts & Entertainment
Saint Paul is home to a vast array of theatres from expansive to quaint including The Fitzgerald Theatre, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and Lowry Theatre.  The live music scene is kicking at venues within the city from the Artists Quarter to The Turf Club  Several festivals come to Saint Paul annually with national and local acts and the Xcel Energy Center is quite possibly the best concert venue in the United States attracting the biggest acts in music and entertainment. 

History and Mystery
Saint Paul has a long and storied history of bootleggers, gangsters, a guy named Pig’s Eye and a mythical winter celebration.  Learn about the gangster history with a trip to the Wabasha Street Caves for a gangster tour highlighting the popular crime spots from the 1930’s. 

If you come in the winter, you’ll find Saint Paul celebrating the season like nowhere else in the world.  The Winter Carnival is the “coolest celebration on earth” and brings alive the mythical story of kings and queens and vulcans for a two week celebration!  Ice carvings and snow sculptures are on display and a temporary ice rink is open in the heart of downtown.
