Gitchi Gami State Trail. When completed, the Gitchi-Gami State Trail will be an 86 mile non-motorized, paved trail between Two Harbors and Grand Marais, Minnesota, connecting communities, state parks and attractions along the North Shore of Lake Superior. The 5 miles of trail between Schroeder and Tofte takes you through woodland glades, a view of Carlton Peak, past Tofte Town Park, and over thrilling waterfalls at Temperance River State Park. The 2 mile section from Tofte east to the Onion River is an easy ride parallel to Highway 61.
