Our town welcomes you to explore its thriving downtown, many specialty and antique shops, variety of family dining, and many forms of entertainment. In the summer and fall, enjoy our downtown outdoor Farmer’s Market, or on warm summer evenings, take in a concert and social at our Monday night “Music in the Park” series.
You will be amazed at our beautiful city park system. Encompassing over 30 individual parks and recreation areas, you are invited to explore the natural beauty and serenity of the parks that were designated long ago by Hutchinson’s founding fathers. Take some time to discover the scenic Luce Line State Trail, a 63-mile biking, hiking, snowmobiling and horseback riding trail that meanders alongside the Crow River through Hutchinson.
The Hutchinson area provides many opportunities for year-round recreation. In the winter months, explore our snowmobile trails or tie on your ice skates and enjoy one of our many outdoor rinks or the indoor rink at Burich Arena. Play a round of golf at one of our beautiful 9 or 18-hole courses, or try disc or mini golf for a change of pace. Bowl a few frames at Hutch Bowl or test your batting skills at Northern Links batting cages.
The active arts community offers a variety of galleries, studios, and museums to check out. You can learn watercolor techniques and browse the art collection at the Twin Birch Gallery, and then watch as experts throw and glaze beautiful pottery at the Clay Coyote Gallery and Pottery. If quilting is your thing, you should plan a stop at nationally renowned quilt designer Lynette Jensen’s Thimbleberries Studio, and then plan to shop for materials and patterns at the Main Street Cotton Shop. If you have the opportunity, you should plan your trip to Hutchinson to coincide with an artistic production by our local theatre organization, the Hutchinson Theatre Company.
Historic Hutchinson is an active historic society that has created a self-guided walking tour of the many historic homes and buildings in Hutchinson. If you would like more information on area history, you can check out the fascinating displays and artifacts at the McLeod County Museum.
Our full community events calendar will provide you with many events and festivals to participate in when you visit.
