It was the glacier carved lakes that attracted our first visitors in the late 1800’s and that still holds true today.  The lakes are the centerpiece of our community and are know for their beauty and excellent fishing.  The 45 mile long paved Central Lakes trail runs from Osakis to the east of us to Fergus Falls to the west.  The trail takes cyclist through the lake country  and its hardwood forests and past small communities, ideal for rest stops.  In the fall, the colors can be spectacular and in the winter months the Central Lakes Trail becomes part of an extensive snowmobile trail system.

The Alexandria Lakes Area is a growing and vibrant community.  It was recently named the 10th fastest growing Micropolitan Statistical Area (Micro SA) in the United States and the fastest growing Micro SA in Minnesota.  As a regional center, visitors will find a wide variety of retail shopping opportunities including national chains, enclosed and strip malls and unique specialty stores.  Our restaurants selection is equally diverse featuring fine dining establishments, local steak houses, fun bar and grills, ethnic food and fast food.
