Savor the flavors of Maryland’s fine wines at the Eastern Shore’s 8th Annual Autumn Wine Festival.
Head to Salisbury on Maryland’s Eastern Shore the weekend of October 16-17, 2010 for the Autumn Wine Festival at beautiful Pemberton Historical Park--where you can explore all of Maryland’s vast wine country from one scenic location. Wine connoisseurs and first time samplers alike enjoy the annual festival where a rich mix of wine makers, visitors, skilled craftsmen and culinary ambassadors converge to highlight all that is right about Maryland Wine.
On the western side of Wicomico County, just off a clam shell road, Pemberton Historical Park is the ideal setting to sample Maryland’s many wineries. The rural backdrop boasts sprawling meadows that, in the fall, are lined with trees of vibrant orange, red and yellow. Pemberton's 207 acres are highlighted by a charming 18th century plantation home. Lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of one of the park's most regale residents - the bald eagle. Walking trails and grassy areas invite you to explore all that Pemberton has to offer.
The event is celebrating its 8th anniversary with a record number of participating wineries and nearly fifty arts, crafts and food vendors. Sniff, swirl, sip and savor tastings from more than 20 Maryland wineries. With wine glass in hand, stroll the grounds and peruse the rows of arts and crafts vendors or simply relax to the sounds of live entertainment. Tantalizing aromas emanating from a host of food vendors will surely entice most everyone to grab lunch, dinner or both.
Make visiting the festival a memorable mini getaway for you and your special someone or group of friends. Eastern Shore hospitality is alive and well in Wicomico County. Whether you’re looking for a simple “base camp,” a home-away-from-home or a full-service hotel, you will find what you are looking for to make your time here memorable and comfortable, with a wide variety of amenities to suit every taste and budget.
