prev | next LAFAYETTE, LA Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination Oct. 21, 2010 through Jan. 17, 2011 at the Lafayette Science Museum Droids, landspeeders and spaceports are closer to reality than you might think. The exhibit Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination combines props, models and costumes from the Star Wars films with real-life cutting-edge technologies. You can journey to the edge of the Universe in a full-size replica of the Millennium Falcon cockpit. Meet R2-D2 and then design, build and test your own droid. Experience the feel of a landspeeder by driving a hovercraft. Create a spaceport as a virtual community. See into the future with these and other interactive experiences. The exhibit is a great choice for a school or family field trip. Supported by the National Science Foundation, it uses the power of Star Wars to increase technological literacy, and will inspire the next generation of scientists by showing kids that science is just as exciting as the fantasy world of the movies. A free accompanying Educator’s Guide will be available to teachers and home-schools starting in October.
