Welcome to St. Lucie County, located on the
sunny Atlantic coast of Florida! Here you'll find some of the best
beaches on the Treasure Coast, rustling palm trees, baseball spring
training and plenty of relaxed Southern charm. Whether you're looking
for boating fun, sophisticated shopping or a day of sand and sun,
you'll find it in St. Lucie County.
Sheltering the coast of St. Lucie County is the long, narrow Hutchinson
Island. Along the Atlantic shore, keep an eye out for gentle manatees,
baby sea turtles or go horseback riding along the beach! Visitors can
also explore the history of the U.S. Navy's elite force at the Navy
UDT-SEAL Museum.
In Fort Pierce, trace the travels of early twentieth-century writer
Zora Neale Hurston across Florida by looking for the markers of the
Zora Neale Hurston Dust Tracks Heritage Trail.
Port St. Lucie lies at
the southern end of mainland St. Lucie County, and it's here that
visitors will find a paradise filled with opportunities for recreation.
Golf enthusiasts have a wide choice of golf courses, including the
one-of-a-kind PGA Village and the PGA Learning Center, while baseball
fans can enjoy watching the Mets' spring training at Tradition Field!
Plus, a wide array of parks and rivers provide the best of natural
Florida for hikers, kayakers and nature enthusiasts of all ages.
And to compliment the county's thousands of acres of natural lands, now
it is also home to one of the first four green hotels in southeast
Florida. The Comfort Suites in Fort Pierce was designated an
eco-friendly accommodation by the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection in 2007.
