GIRDWOOD, AK Expect year-round adventure in Girdwood, which is 40 miles south of Anchorage, nestled among the breathtaking Turnagain Arm and spectacular Mt. Alyeska. The town is bordered on three sides by Chugach State Park and Chugach National Forest, and is home to the Alyeska Ski Resort, the largest ski area in Alaska.
