A week at the beach or in the mountains for a vacation is loads of fun. But when you can enjoy the same great vacation and save money, it is even better.

A week at the beach or in the mountains for a vacation is loads of fun. But when you can enjoy the same great vacation and save money, it is even better.

Just like in your weekly grocery shopping, every dollar you spend on your vacation is important. Finding ways to save money is always welcome.
Consider the timing of your vacation. Obviously the most popular times to visit your destination will be the most expensive. Vacationing a few weeks before or after the rush can result in big savings.

Your accommodations are likely the biggest expense for the vacation. Consider an option that is slightly removed from the action. For a beach vacation, the condos directly on the beach are the most expensive. If you plan on spending a fair amount of your time golfing, fishing, shopping and seeing the attractions, then a room a few blocks from the beach is another way to save money.

Another big expense on vacation is your food budget. Eating out for three meals a day will quickly add up. Bring some easy meal items to the condo and enjoy your coffee and breakfast before you venture out for the day.

Do some research before you book. Compare prices on accommodation options by browsing several websites. Sign up for newsletters from the tourism bureau as well as hotel and condo companies. Many offer hot deals either on their websites or through their newsletters.
