A cosmopolitan city, great beaches, outdoor activities, fresh seafood, major league sports and a wealth of cultural activities--Massachusetts has it all!

If your idea of a perfect getaway is to head straight to the shore, you'll find some pretty spectacular places to set your beach umbrella.

Prefer an active vacation? Massachusetts' parks, mountains, and rivers offer wide-open spaces and a chance to hike, bike, canoe, or rocket through whitewater rapids on a raft. Want to re-live the excitement and drama of America's past? Our living history museums and walking trails will transport you back in time.

Speaking of history, visitors to Massachusetts can experience the state's rich history and its prominent role in American history. They can climb aboard the Mayflower and re-live the pilgrim's death-defying journey to the New World. Explore the decks of the USS Constitution and learn why sailors dubbed her "Old Ironsides." They can see where the Salem witches were hanged and experience everyday life in an 1830's New
England village.

For the outdoors type, the sky's the limit. Activities range from active, like schussing down the mountain on the last run of the day, or more leisurely, like paddling down river on a sun-splashed afternoon. Get out and about!

And who can forget the sports fan? Now's a great time to be a fan in Massachusetts. Not only did the Boston Red Sox, who pack in millions of loyal fans at historic Fenway Park, win the 2004 World Series, but the New England Patriots have won three out of the last four Super Bowls.

The Bay State is also home to professional hockey, basketball, and soccer teams and hosts world-class sporting events, such as the Head of The Charles Crew Race and the Boston Marathon. Plus, you can visit one of three sports museums-the Sports Museum of New England, The Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Volleyball Hall of Fame.

Everything really is here in Massachusetts.
